The Rice Lake RL1200 IS Intrinsically Safe Portable Beam Scale takes the same rugged 24" x 18" cast-iron platform found across the RL1200 series and adapts it for use in hazardous, potentially explosive environments where a standard scale simply is not safe to bring in. In place of standard casters, this model rolls on conductive wheels that dissipate static buildup before it can become a spark hazard, and it pairs with the Rice Lake 882IS intrinsically safe digital weight indicator, which is FM and ATEX/IECEx approved for classified locations such as fuel refineries, chemical plants, distilleries, and grain or textile facilities. The stainless steel, IP66-rated 882IS reads out on a backlit LCD display, runs on a rechargeable battery pack and charger rather than disposable batteries, and delivers roughly 60 to 100 hours of use per charge depending on load cell configuration. With a 1,000 lb capacity in 0.5 lb divisions, the Rice Lake RL1200 IS is NTEP Class III certified and Legal for Trade, giving plant and safety managers a portable scale they can trust to deliver accurate readings without introducing an ignition risk into a hazardous area.
